MUSEUMSMEILE (Museum Mile)

Museum Alexander Koenig, BonnExterner Link in neuem Browserfenster
After nearly forty years of reconstruction, which included updating the building's security system, the famous natural history museum has reopened its doors. "Our Blue Planet - Life in the Network" is the title of the permanent exhibition, the centerpiece of which is the museum's atrium, redesigned as a savanna landscape.

Geschichteerleben®
Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik DeutschlandExterner Link in neuem Browserfenster
(German National Museum of Contemporary History)
Sit in the original chairs of the former German Bundestag. See the first Mercedes Konrad Adenauer drove as chancellor. Marvel at the smorgasbord of goods in a department store during the years of the "Wirtschaftswunder" (the economic boom in Germany in the 1960s). Experience the fall of the Berlin Wall. The permanent exhibition in the Haus der Geschichte displays original exhibits, documents, photos, and films, and narrates history. Visitors also bring in their own experiences, making the museum a venue for discussion - also between generations. Changing exhibitions round off and enhance the permanent exhibition with new emphases.

Kunstmuseum Bonn (ART MUSEUM BONN)Externer Link in neuem Browserfenster
Among the special focuses of the Kunstmuseum Bonn's collection are August Macke and the Rhenish Expressionists, German art since 1945 with Joseph Beuys' multiples, as well as a graphic arts collection, photography, and a video centre. International exhibitions complement the frequently changing exhibits from the collection. The museum thus illustrates better than any other museum the major developments in art over the past 60 years.
