Some offers not directly
targeted to the objects in the exhibition become a catalyst of communication
between exhibits and visitors by means of a diversified programme
and approach to conveying exhibition content and themes.

Exhibition
lectures, readings and programms
The series of "lectures in the exhibition" by specialists and popularised
art-appreciation readings initiated by the Education Service for adults
or children in the exhibitions create a special relationship between
viewers and exhibits regarding both atmosphere and content. The "Literary
Audiences with Musical Intermezzo" in the Vatican exhibition or the
"Scenic Readings" are examples of the multiform quality of these series.
The exhibition attended programms also include films, theatre and
music. |

Seminars
The adult education programme has for years featured a number of well-attended
events, some of them lasting several days, jointly organised with
academies, senior citizens' homes, adult education centres, institutions
of further education and university institutes. Lecturers at these
events include Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland project directors and Education Service staff members
as well as scholars from other institutions.

Evaluation of
exhibitions and accompanying programmes
Since 1999, in cooperation with the Bonn University Psychological
Institute's "Centre for Evaluation and Methods", the Education Service
has annually conducted critical analyses of the exhibitions. Besides
the effectiveness of the instruments and resources available for exhibition
communication, the presentation and the experience-element of the
exhibitions themselves are examined. The results are presented in
public and are used in the in-house planning and designing of future
exhibitions.

"Art from Bonn
Schools", and special activity programmes
The series "Art from Bonn schools" (and vicinity) - regularly and
professionally staged exhibitions displaying some 800 works - are
an important marketing instrument for the school-class-focused programmes
organised by the Education Service, and for gaining teachers and pupils
as exhibition-visitors. |

Special activity
programmes
On certain occasions such as the "Long Museum Night" or "Museum Mile
Festival" the Education Service organises visitor-activities combining
exhibition content with "event and fun" character. |
