Heinz Mack
Light – Space – Colour
18 March – 10 July 2011
As a co-founder of the ZERO movement and as a painter, light artist and sculptor, Heinz Mack has left his mark on art since 1960. The artist’s 80th birthday and his rediscovery by a new generation of young artists provide a welcome opportunity for a comprehensive exhibition in his honour. The presentation highlights the continuity of the utopian vision in Mack’s work, in which new ways of perceiving light, space and colour play a central role. His affinity to contemporary science is also evident in his focus on structure rather than composition.
