Guided Tours

We offer a wide range of fascinating themed tours for all ages to accompany our varied programme of exhibitions. We see access to art and culture as a journey of exploration. Looking and exploring opens up opportunities and spaces to discover new experiences and discuss them together on tours and in workshops. Our approach focuses on the experience of art. As a result, questions about art, educational services and creativity are not mutually exclusive, but supplement each other, providing access for all our visitors.

All our exhibitions are accompanied by regular tours in German for the general public. The tour programme also includes special tours, for example, for children or families, or themed tours with experts. In addition, you can also book tours on demand in the following languages: English, German, Dutch, French, and Italian.

If you would rather explore our exhibitions on your own, we also offer audio guides to give you a greater insight into the various topics and wealth of exhibits. For more details on audio guide languages, simply contact us before your visit.

Our current tours are listed in the event calendar. You can book tours and workshops, and find details on fees and prices HERE.

BOOKING A GROUP TOUR

You can book a group tour for adults, young people or children for your preferred date. Bookings need to be made at least five opening days before your chosen date. Self-guided groups may tour our exhibitions against a nominal fee, but are required to register and pay in advance.

Bookings are binding, but cancellations are possible at no extra charge up to four working days prior to the arranged tour date. As we employ external specialists for your tour group, if you cancel later we are obliged to charge a late cancellation fee of €25. The Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany will confirm tour cancellations in writing. If you do not appear for the tour, the full fee as agreed is still due. Guides will only wait for a maximum of 30 minutes after the appointed time; delays in starting the tour will be deducted from the tour time. In cases of force majeure, no cancellation fee will be charged.

Payment

Tour and admission tickets should be purchased at least 15 minutes before the tour is due to start. During the museum's regular opening hours, we would ask you to purchase all the tickets for the group at one time as far as possible. We accept payments in cash or with credit and debit cards. For pre-booked tours, you may also pay on receipt of the invoice if so requested.

Visitor information

You are asked to leave cameras, bags, backpacks and umbrellas in our cloakroom or in the lockers provided. All visiting teachers with classes are responsible for the behaviour of their students in the museum. They should be familiar with the museum's regulations on the protection of the exhibits on display, and are asked to ensure their students observe them. Please comply with the Visitor Regulations displayed at the cloakroom, ticket and information desk, and follow instructions given by our staff.
