Cultural Forces for Open Societies

The BONN SUMMIT brings together stakeholders from the arts, culture, academia, politics, and society to discuss the current challenges of our time and their cultural dimensions.

The launch event in 2026 focuses on the relationship between culture and politics in times of geopolitical power shifts. We will examine current developments in the US, considering the consequences for Europe, and shed light on selected arenas of culturally coded conflicts over values and worldviews. We invite you to join us in a collective exchange on future scenarios, courses of action, and strategies for shaping the future.

The "Reflexes & Reflections" themed days are a program series of the Berlin Festival. In times of increasing polarization of social debates, it aims to create open and controversial spaces for discussion. The third edition explores the political, social, and cultural consequences of a global order increasingly characterized by wars, imperial ambitions, and multipolar conflict lines. Under the title "The Great Disorder," the themed days address the impact of these developments on liberal democracies and international cooperation.
